Rising indie quartet The Lathums have revealed their new single, ‘Cobblestones’. Their new track is a janky piece of jangle-punk. At its centre is a wandering Johnny Marr-esque riff that is given room to breathe over a Clash-style, dub-adjacent accompaniment. Alex Moore’s voice is conversational and his lyrics are relatable, but he never loses his knack for a hook. Frontman Moore says: “Where I’m from, cobblestones seem to be everywhere, and they started to feel like a symbol for the stories and truths buried under modern life. The song is about what gets covered up, not just by concrete or tarmac, but by politics, ego, and time.” Keep an eye on The Lathums as they head out on their first tour of Australia and Japan. -Dan Peeke
